LCHC Board Retreat Highlights Mission and Impact

At LCHC, community leadership is built directly into how we operate. Recently, members of LCHC’s Board of Directors gathered for a full-day retreat focused on organizational planning, learning, and connection to the services that support thousands of patients and families across our community each year.

As a federally qualified health center (FQHC), LCHC’s Board is required to be made up of a majority of patients. This unique structure ensures that the voices guiding the organization reflect the lived experiences of the people and communities we serve.

Throughout the retreat, Board members heard directly from staff teams representing a wide range of our programs and services, including school-based health centers, dental care, behavioral health, primary care, and the Recuperative Care Center. Staff shared how these programs work together to provide accessible, comprehensive care for individuals and families — both inside clinic walls and throughout the community.

"The strength of community health centers comes from staying connected to the people we serve every day,” said Brenda Rodriguez, CEO of LCHC. “Our Board brings valuable perspective, thoughtful leadership, and a deep understanding of the community. Opportunities like this retreat allow us to continue learning from one another and planning for the future together."

The retreat also created opportunities for discussion about the evolving needs facing patients today and the role LCHC continues to play in improving access to care. Whether it’s caring for children in schools or supporting individuals recovering after hospitalization, LCHC’s programs are designed to meet people where they are and remove barriers to care.

LCHC remains focused on meeting the moment: adapting services, strengthening partnerships, and planning thoughtfully for the future. Through collaboration between patients, staff, leadership, and the Board of Directors, we continue to ensure high-quality, compassionate care remains accessible for everyone who depends on it today and in the years ahead.
