Compassionate Care for Every Stage of Life

At Lynn Community Health Center, we are here for you through every stage of life. Whether you need a check-up, are planning a family, or need urgent support, our team provides safe, respectful care.

We promise to listen to you. We make decisions with you, never for you.

Care for Your Whole Life (GYN Services)

We help you stay healthy from your teen years through menopause. You can come to us for:

  • Routine “Well-Woman” Visits: Annual check-ups to keep you healthy.
  • Cancer Screenings: Pap tests (cervical cancer) and mammograms (breast cancer). Many screenings are done right here at the health center.
  • Family Planning: Birth control counseling and prescriptions to help you decide when to have a family.
  • Teen Health: Safe, confidential care for teenagers.
  • Testing: Private testing and treatment for HIV and STDs.

Need Surgery? If you need a procedure (like for pelvic pain, fibroids, or permanent birth control), your LCHC doctor will take care of you. They will perform the surgery at Salem Hospital, but you will see the same trusted team for your check-ups before and after.

Emergency Contraception (“The Morning After Pill”)

Did you experience unprotected sex? Are you worried about an unplanned pregnancy? We can help. No judgment. No appointment needed.

You can get the “Morning After Pill” (Emergency Contraception) at our pharmacy. It works best if taken as soon as possible (up to 5 days after sex).

How to Get It (Walk-In Guide)

  • Come to the Pharmacy: Go to the LCHC Pharmacy at 269 Union Street. The front desk can point you in the right direction.
  • Ask for Help: Tell the pharmacy staff you need Emergency Contraception. It is confidential.
  • Quick Check: You will answer a few simple questions to make sure we give you the right pill for your body.
  • Payment: You do not need insurance. If you don’t have insurance, we offer a low discounted price.

Note: You do not need to be a registered patient at LCHC to use this service.

Having a Baby (Obstetrics & Prenatal Care)

Pregnancy is a special journey. We help you have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.

Choosing Your Provider: Doctor? Midwife? Both? At LCHC, you can choose who’s on your care team.

  • OB/GYN Physicians (Doctors): These are medical doctors trained to handle all pregnancies, including high-risk ones or C-sections.
  • Certified Nurse Midwives: These are nurses with advanced training in pregnancy and birth. They focus on a natural, low-intervention approach. They are a great choice if you have a low-risk pregnancy and want high-touch support.

Support During Pregnancy

  • Ultrasounds: We do ultrasounds right here at the health center.
  • High-Risk Care: If you have a complicated pregnancy, we connect you with specialists (Maternal Fetal Medicine).
  • Moms Do Care: A special support program for pregnant women or new moms dealing with substance use recovery.

Giving Birth

When it is time to meet your baby, our doctors and midwives will deliver your baby at the Salem Hospital Birthplace. It is a beautiful, modern facility with private rooms.

After Your Baby Arrives

We don’t stop caring for you after the birth.

  • Postpartum Care: Check-ups to make sure you are healing well.
  • Baby’s Doctor: Your baby will be seen by an LCHC pediatrician at the hospital before you go home. We help you book their first appointment at the health center so they get a healthy start.
  • Breastfeeding & Nutrition: We can connect you with the WIC program for food and breastfeeding support.

Additional Support Services:

  • Prenatal education classes in English and Spanish on-site or at Salem Hospital.
  • Optional home visits during your pregnancy and throughout the first year of your baby’s life*. An Early Intervention Specialist is available to provide education and support, plus routine developmental screenings for your baby.
  • Individual support is available from your nurse, case manager, or integrated behavioral health provider throughout your pregnancy and postpartum.
  • Social workers dedicated to helping you receive all necessary services.

*Offered in partnership with the Massachusetts Early Intervention Program.

VISIT MOMS DO CARE

Birth Partners Doula Program

In partnership with Mass General Brigham, LCHC offers the Birth Partners Doula Program — free doula support for eligible OB patients. A doula is a trained birth partner who works alongside your care team to help you feel informed, supported, and heard before, during, and after your baby is born. Doulas are not medical staff, but they are your personal partner throughout the experience.

What your doula does

  • Before birth: Meets with you at least twice, in person or by video, to get to know you and prepare for labor.
  • During labor and delivery: Supports you at Salem Hospital (or by video) with comfort measures, pain management techniques, and help communicating your wishes to the medical team.
  • After birth: Meets with you at least twice more to help with feeding, recovery, newborn care, and connecting you to other support you may need.

We match you with a doula who speaks your language and understands your culture. Your doula is part of your care team — you can still bring two other support people, like a partner or friend, when you deliver.

Is there a cost?

No. The program is 100% free for patients who qualify. If you have MassHealth, your doula will bill your insurance directly. If you have other insurance that does not cover doula care, LCHC covers the cost for you.

Who is eligible?

Free doula care through Birth Partners is available to LCHC patients having their first baby with us who are planning a vaginal birth. If you don’t meet these criteria, your OB team can share information about how to find a doula on your own — MassHealth may cover the cost.

Interested?

Talk to any member of your LCHC OB team to sign up, or watch a short video about how the program works.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a Midwife and an OB/GYN at LCHC?

Both are experts in pregnancy and both are available as part of your care team. An OB/GYN is a doctor who handles medical complications and surgeries (like C-sections). A Certified Nurse Midwife is an advanced nurse who focuses on natural, low-intervention birth. At Lynn Community Health Center, you can choose the provider that fits your comfort level.

Can I get the morning-after pill at Lynn Community Health Center without an appointment?

Yes. You can walk into the pharmacy at 269 Union Street to get Emergency Contraception. You do not need a prescription, an appointment, or insurance. It is open to the community, not just registered patients.

Where will I deliver my baby if I go to Lynn Community Health Center?

Our physicians and midwives deliver babies at the Salem Hospital Birthplace. It offers private recovery suites and state-of-the-art care.

You can request medical and behavioral health appointments in MyChart!
