Santa visits Lynn Community Health Center!

Although COVID again thwarted an in-person party for Baby’s First Christmas, a surprise visit from Santa still delighted children, adults, and staff alike at the health center!

His visit stopped on most teams at our main 269 Union Street location, and he was accompanied by a few special LCHC Staff “elves” who assisted passing out books to our pediatric patients. These books are always available through our Reach Out and Read program, but with Santa’s help, even more books made their way into our community’s hands!

Baby’s First Christmas was started by one of LCHC’s OB nurses 26 years ago. Recognizing the needs of many of new moms concerning baby basics and building a sense of community, she gathered our Board and friends to support them.  The annual party gave gift bags to each new mom and baby, and larger items were raffled off at the in-person party. 20 years ago a group of women answered the call to step in to help when the in-person gathering became too large for the OB department to handle on their own! This group, LCHC’s “Event Committee”, stewards this campaign each year and the gift bags, and in-person event, are put on entirely through their volunteer efforts.  Santa (Gary Ritter) is the husband of Event Committee member Mary Manning Ritter.
