Lynn Community Health Center is expanding its facilities and redesigning key patient spaces as part of our vision for the Lynn Health and Wellness Campus.
In April 2026, LCHC broke ground on a building expansion and redesign project at the Hayes Building at 269 Union Street. The project will add new space, improve building access, support more providers, and help us continue providing exceptional, compassionate care to every patient, whether they have private health insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, or are uninsured.
As the Commonwealth’s second-largest health center, with 24 sites, including 269, 270, and 280 Union Street and 694 Western Avenue, LCHC is building for the future of community healthcare in Lynn. This project will help us serve our 46,000 patients and growing while supporting whole-person care in 2026 and beyond.

The Building Expansion & Redesign Project will expand LCHC by 55,000 square feet and upgrade the patient, staff, and visitor experience at our Lynn Health and Wellness Campus.
When complete, the project will include:
This work is designed to help LCHC accommodate more patients comfortably, facilitate collaborative care, welcome 115 new providers and staff, and incorporate the latest technology.

LCHC is creating a more coordinated patient experience across the Lynn Health and Wellness Campus. The expanded and redesigned space will help our care teams provide timely visits, clearer care plans, and better support for patients who may need multiple services in one visit.
During construction, our clinics will remain open. Maintaining access for patients, staff, and visitors is one of our top priorities.
Patients and visitors may notice construction areas inside the building, especially near the lobby, and some walls may be moved during different phases of the project. These spaces will be sectioned off from clinics and waiting areas so they do not interfere with patient service. Signs will be posted so patients and visitors can easily find their way to Urgent Care and to all LCHC clinics during construction.
The Building Expansion & Redesign Project began in April 2026 and is planned to continue through November 2027.
This percentage reflects elapsed time between April 2026 and the scheduled November 2027 completion window. It is not a measured construction-completion percentage.
LCHC breaks ground on the Hayes Building expansion and redesign at 269 Union Street.
Blake Street detour and temporary parking changes begin to support safe construction access.
The Blake Street detour and temporary use of nearby public parking spaces are expected to end.
The Building Expansion & Redesign Project is scheduled to be completed.

Access to LCHC will remain available during construction. Patients, staff, and visitors will always be able to enter the Center through either the Blake Street or Union Street entrance.
Some sections of the sidewalk on Blake Street and Mulberry may be closed at times. Signage will be in place to direct pedestrians safely around the building and work site.
LCHC is committed to keeping clinics open, supporting patients and staff, and being a good neighbor throughout construction.
Outside work will not take place after 4:00 p.m. During regular work hours, neighbors may notice increased noise from trucks and equipment on Blake Street, construction machinery, metal scaffolding, and outdoor staircase towers. Inside the Center, noisier work has been scheduled either overnight or between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. out of consideration for patients and staff.
Because the project needs outdoor space to safely load, unload, and store materials and equipment, a section of Blake Street between Almont and Buffum Streets will be closed to traffic each day from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Blake Street will reopen to traffic each day after 2:00 p.m.
This detour began on Monday, May 4, and will run through July 2027. Detour signs will be posted to guide drivers.
The project will use 20 public parking spaces on Blake Street between Almont and Buffum Streets for material storage, equipment, and a dumpster. The city is being reimbursed for the use of these spaces. These parking spaces were taken offline on Monday, May 4, and will be available again after July 2027.
Construction workers have been assigned parking so they are not parking their personal vehicles at city meters.
This project is an important part of our vision for the Lynn Health and Wellness Campus.
We are expanding our facilities and creating new spaces that will support high-quality, personalized care for more patients and comfortably accommodate more providers. As the Commonwealth’s second-largest health center, with 24 sites, including 269, 270, and 280 Union Street and 694 Western Avenue, we have already made tremendous progress toward reaching our vision for the Lynn Health and Wellness Campus.
Now we are expanding the health center’s Hayes Building at 269 Union Street by adding a fourth floor and rooftop terrace, improving building access, and improving patient amenities so we can continue to proudly serve our 46,000 patients and growing.
With a mission to provide comprehensive healthcare to everyone in our community, the Lynn Health and Wellness Campus will support Lynn residents and help evolve what it means to provide whole-person care in 2026 and beyond.
LCHC has started a multi-phase building expansion and redesign project so we can continue to provide exceptional, compassionate care to every Lynn resident.
We are expanding by 55,000 square feet and upgrading our space to accommodate more patients comfortably, facilitate collaborative care, welcome 115 new providers and staff, and incorporate the latest technology. We are creating a new patient experience that is highly coordinated, consistently on time, delivers clear care plans tailored to every individual, and fulfills multiple needs in one visit.
Once complete, our campus will include:
The project began in April 2026 and is scheduled for completion by November 2027.
Construction work hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Weekend work may take place as needed, and neighbors will be notified in advance.
Construction-related questions and concerns can be emailed to [email protected]. A member of the Lynn Community Health Center Expansion Project Outreach Team will get back to you during regular work hours.
During the project, maintaining access to LCHC for our patients, staff, and visitors is a top priority so we can continue to provide exceptional, compassionate care to our patients during construction.
Access to the Center at either the Blake Street or Union Street entrance will always be available to our patients, staff, and visitors during construction. Some sections of the sidewalk on Blake Street and Mulberry may be closed at times, but signage will be in place to provide directions.
Inside the building, people will notice construction areas and may notice some walls have been moved, particularly in the lobby. These spaces will be sectioned off from our clinics and waiting areas so they will not interfere with our operations and patient service. Signs will be posted so patients and visitors can easily find their way to urgent care and to all our clinics during construction.
To minimize noise for our neighbors, work on the outside of the building will not take place after 4:00 p.m.
During regular work hours between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, the outdoor work will produce some increase in noise levels from trucks and equipment on Blake Street, the use of construction machinery, and the assembly of metal scaffolding and outdoor staircase towers. Our contractor has experience working in busy city environments, and they will manage the work in a way that respects our neighborhood and our neighbors’ need to live and work during construction.
Inside the Center, the noisier work has been scheduled either overnight or between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. out of consideration for our patients and staff. This work should not affect our neighbors.
Yes. Because the project needs an outdoor area to safely load, unload, and store materials and equipment during the project, the contractor needs to close a section of Blake Street between Almont and Buffum Streets to traffic each day from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Traffic will need to be detoured around this section of Blake Street. Detour signs will be posted to guide drivers. Blake Street will reopen to traffic each day after 2:00 p.m.
This detour around Blake Street between Almont and Buffum Streets began on Monday, May 4, and will run through July 2027.

At some point during the project, there will be a power shutdown that will affect the Hayes Building. This will not be an extended shutdown, and the contractor will aim to schedule the shutdown during off-hours to minimize inconvenience for patients and staff.
This shutdown will not affect neighboring buildings or the Mantzoukas Building.
The contractor will perform all necessary water tie-ins off-hours so the work does not impact the health center.
Patient access remains of utmost importance to us. Our goal is to take as few parking spaces as possible and only the ones we absolutely need for only the time we need them.
The contractor needs outdoor space to store materials and equipment and to keep a dumpster on site during the project. This will use 20 parking spaces on Blake Street between Almont and Buffum Streets. The city is being reimbursed for the use of these spaces.
These parking spaces were taken offline on Monday, May 4, and will be available after July 2027.
Construction workers have been assigned parking to make sure they are not parking their personal vehicles at city meters.
