It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that the Lynn Community Health Center mourns the death of Dr. Stephen D. Hayes, who died Saturday, May 28, 2011. Dr. Hayes was a child and adult clinical psychologist, psychoanalyst and addiction specialist who practiced in Salem, Lynn, and Brookline. He was a remarkably accomplished individual who held three doctorates and two board certifications, and many state and national awards and recognitions for his work.
For us, he was the heart and soul of the Lynn Community Health Center, which he co-founded in 1971. He served as our full time director of behavioral health and integrated care services until the end of last year, never losing sight of our mission to provide care for those who need it the most. It is for this reason that we chose to recognize his life-long commitment to others by naming our new expansion facility the Stephen D. Hayes Building.
